How To Learn Anything Faster

What if you could learn anything that you’ve ever wanted? How would you feel if you will never have to procrastinate on learning? Would you feel great if the thing you are learning becomes second nature to you?

The biggest reason people fail to learn a skill is that they are generally unaware of some of the basic things to take care of. When you’ll apply the strategies I’m giving you in this post, you’ll immediately notice the difference in the way you learn things.

Note that I’m not giving you some hocus pocus techniques which look good but do not work at all. If you follow these basic and simple strategies for at least 7 days, you’ll see the permanent results the simple strategies can yield.

Here are the strategies.

1. Write Down Your Learning Goals

First, think of what you want to learn and how that’d look like when you had completely master it. For example, if you were trying to learn a musical instrument, how would you know that you have learned it well? You could set a target for yourself that if you would be able to play a particular song or music on that instrument, then you have learnt the amount of skill that you wished to.

So, your goal should be to play that particular piece of music or music on that level without anyone’s help. The biggest problem people make when setting goals is that they have no way to measure a particular goal whether it has been achieved or not.

Always set goals which you can measure whenever you want to. In this case, you can try to play that particular music to test whether you’ve achieved the desired level of mastery over the instrument.

So, the first point is to set your measurable goal and write it down on a notebook. (You can use goal setting applications also.) Then, to keep that thing in your head, write your goal/s every day before you begin your work. This’ll give you more clarity as you go ahead in your work.

2. Master The Fundamentals

Whenever you are beginning to learn something new, don’t ever jump to master the advanced stuff at once. Whatever you are learning, however difficult that is, remember that it can be mastered if you master the fundamentals.

People make the mistake of learning the advance stuffs first which leads to frequent discouragement and ultimately to giving up.

Every set of skill or concept is built on some fundamental skills or knowledge. The good thing is that mastering the fundamentals is easy in almost all fields.

After you’ve mastered the fundamentals, apply your common sense and every ‘advanced’ stuff will come into place. Who knows, maybe you’ll find something of your own. That’s the benefit of mastering the fundamentals. It’s permanent.

3. Use Breaks While Learning

For a moment imagine that you are working on a really difficult problem and the solution seems to be too far from you. You try and try and try, but everything you do makes you more frustrated. At last you give up that work and do something else.

After some moment while you are taking a bath or watching YouTube, suddenly the solution pops in front of your eyes!

I think this is a very familiar situation for most of us, in whatever profession we may be working. So how does it happen? Who solves our problem and hands it over to us?

The answer is that our Inner Mind or Subconscious Mind is always working on a problem beneath your underlying consciousness. The capacity of the Subconscious Mind is far beyond that of Conscious Mind and the sad thing is that you cannot use your Subconscious Mind consciously.

So, what do we learn from it? We should let our Subconscious Minds work, especially when we are learning something new. Use spacing while you are learning a new skill. Don’t overwork in the initial phases of learning a new skill, because it can frustrate you to the point that you may consider it to be too difficult and stop learning altogether.

One of the great benefits of taking breaks while learning is that your topic becomes clear at a steady pace. A new enthusiasm builds when you finish session of work. Clarity and enthusiasm are the two important characteristic a beginner should have to master any skill.

4. Break The Tasks

Imagine that you have to write a book of about 300 pages! How would you feel? It doesn’t matter if you are a writer or not, just imagine the scenario. Most people will be overwhelmed if asked to write a book, even if it be their own biographies.

So what was the reason that made them quit before they even started? It was the overwhelming feeling that they have to perform a big task, and this is one of the main reasons why people quit on learning something worthwhile.

They only see the big thing and not the smaller things they can do to make the bigger things.

But what if I tell you to write only two pages a day? How would you take the challenge? It seems quite doable now. It may take you two years to complete the book, but something is better than nothing. Two years are going to pass anyway.

Always break your task into bits of smaller tasks and work on one at a time. If you are learning an academic subject or a new skill, make sure to break it into several smaller concepts or smaller skills to go after.

If you keep completing the smaller tasks, very soon you’ll surprise yourself how great a progress you have made on improving or learning a new skill.

5. Learn Everyday

All of these tips that I’ve just told you will amount to nothing if you won’t learn something each single day. This is the hardest part to follow but if you could do or learn something consistently then your success is guaranteed.

Maybe what you are learning is not that high in priority and you don’t have time for it every single day. In this case, schedule your week or month to do the learning. You must follow your schedule in order to achieve consistency.

Most people overlook the fact that consistency is the true secret to success in every endeavor. If you have consistency in life then everything falls into place.

If you look at all the experts in any field, you’ll find that consistency is the main cause of their expertise.

Conclusion

Practice the strategies suggested in this post and you’ll see great results from the very beginning. I’ve practiced all of the steps and this has made my learning in every area a joyful experience.

Note: Remember that if your are feeling a sense of Joy and Exploration while you learn something, then you are doing it in the right way.
